Marker Restoration

In Fall 2017, PCA was able to engage Jablonski Building Conservation (JBC) to restore several damaged markers in the Gracy Family Plot.  The work was made possible by a generous donation from members of the Gracy Family.  Two marble headstones were broken in two pieces.  JBC reattached the pieces together with a specialized marble restoration mortar and added stainless steel supports to help prevent similar breaks from occurring in the future.


Prospect Cemetery's historic Chapel of the Sisters is available as a venue for events.  It is well suited for workshops, musical performances, small conferences, memorials, and celebrations.  Please contact us for information regarding Chapel rental.

Association for Gravestone Studies

On October 21, 2017, Prospect Cemetery hosted fall meeting of the New York Chapter of the Association for Gravestone Studies (AGS).  AGS members were able to attend lectures in the Chapel of the Sisters, two of which featured Prospect Cemetery. Dan Allen of CTA Architects P.C. presented Restoration of The Chapel of the Sisters at Prospect Cemetery and Cate Ludlam, President of PCA presented Joy in the Morning: A Tale of Prospect's Progress.  Attendees also had the option of participating in a guided walking tour of the cemetery grounds led by Cate.

Writers' Workshop Series

J. Expressions, an initiative promoting authors and artists in Queens, held its Reading (W)riting Remedy Series at the Chapel of the Sisters over four weeks in October 2017.
